What inspired you to write “Lapse?
Ivanoff: The inspiration for Lapse came from many places. The setting came from various science fiction films and books that I liked, but the character conflicts were inspired by personal and societal factors.
How did you come up with the names of your main characters?
Ivanoff: I didn't really think about it too much. The names that I chose just felt right at the time.
When you encounter writer’s block, what do you do to break yourself out of it?
Ivanoff: I put the book down and try to focus on something else. Eventually, the next turn of events just pops into my head.
Are there any tips that you would like to share with other aspiring authors?
Ivanoff: Don't stress. Writing should be about creativity and expression. Forcing yourself to put words on paper won't make a great book.
What are you working on next?
Ivanoff: I do have rough plans for a sequel, however the road to completing a book is a long one.
