Heather’s Bookshelf: Author Interview with Henry Scott
What inspired you to write “Revenge”?
Scott: I had a close friend die young of a heart attack, and it got me to thinking what would happen if he'd passed from unnatural causes and the story spun out from there.
How did you come up with the names of your main characters?
Scott: Since the characters are based loosely on real people in my life, I used names that were close to their actual names.
Is there anything that you want readers to know about you, your writing process or your book?
Scott: It took me too long to learn that I'm a plantser. I like to know how a story ends, starts, and a few points in between but if I try to plot it all out, then I find the story too boring to write or read.
Are there any tips that you would like to share with other aspiring authors?
Scott: If you love it, keep writing, keep editing, get feedback from readers and peers and edit again. Eventually, you'll have something you'll be proud to put on your bookshelf.
What is your favorite genre, book, and/or author?
Scott: I love thrillers with a unique twist that makes sense once all the puzzle pieces are in place. Harlan Coben is the master of this genre. When I read 'Deal Breaker', there was no turning back. I was hooked.
What are you working on next?
Scott: I'm changing genres and writing a monster in the woods horror novel, but it still has all the elements I enjoy writing - a boy, a girl, an obstacle standing in the way of their relationship, a surprise reveal, and a fitting ending.
