Heather’s Bookshelf: Author Interview with Ruth O’Neill

Book Title: Hollow Voices

Released:  11/06/23

Genre:  Psychological Thriller

Interview by Heather L. Barksdale

What inspired you to write “Hollow Voices”?

Corbier: I started journaling at work. It allowed me to say things I couldn't and express emotions to keep myself sane. After years of struggling with the manuscript and multiple rewrites, I committed to publishing it in 2023 or abandon it.

How did you come up with the names of your main characters?

Corbier: I have a file of names and choose one randomly from that list.

Is there anything that you want readers to know about you, your writing process or your book?

Corbier: My protagonists are people I relate to, and I write stories where good triumphs. The way I wish the world existed.

If "Hollow Voices" was adapted into a movie, who would you like to see cast to play your lead characters?

Corbier:  I haven't considered this book as a movie.

When you encounter writer’s block, what do you do to break yourself out of it?

Corbier: Gardening and biking clear my mind.

Are there any tips that you would like to share with other aspiring authors?

Corbier: Writing is easier than publishing. I will always write, publishing. If you find publishing difficult, put it on pause but continue writing.

What is your favorite genre, book, and/or author?

Corbier: Mystery thrillers are my favorite genre.

What are you working on next?

Corbier: I am working on the third book in my mystery series and the second in my paranormal.
