Heather’s Bookshelf: Author Interview with Steve S. Saroff
What inspired you to write “Paper Targets”?
Saroff: Paper Targets was inspired by personal experiences with corruption and crime during the time of the multi-billion dollar WorldCom and Enron frauds and collapse. As well as some personal experiences with ignoring red-flag relationships.
How did you come up with the names of your main characters?
Saroff: Enzi is a name of a childhood friend who built bombs and then who left home and headed west. Pascal is a great mathematician.
Is there anything that you want readers to know about you, your writing process or your book?
Saroff: I have severe dyslexia and never finished high school, though I have a college degree and started several companies. Never let anyone tell you that you are a failure. The writing process for fiction is to know that fiction is supported by leaning on truth.
What is your favorite genre, book, and/or author?
Saroff: My favorite genre is great writing, regardless of its genre. My favorite book is Pan, by Knut Hamsun and translated by McFarlane.
What are you working on next?
Saroff: I am in the final stages of completing 'Mixed Drinks - Missoula Stories,' which will be published by Flooding Island. It is a novel told through interconnecting stories.
