Interview by Heather L. Barksdale

What inspired you to write “The Prince of Tabor”?

WP White: My brother Kevin and I created this universe as teenagers through playing Dungeons and Dragons. After retiring after 30 years as a gastroenterologist, I finally had the time to devote to writing, and I wanted to leave the stories as a legacy for my kids and grandkids.

How did you come up with the names of your main characters?

WP White: I really had no reference for developing the names. I just used my imagination.

Is there anything that you want readers to know about you, your writing process or your book?

WP White: I really love these characters and tried hard to breathe strong emotions and personalities into them. To write these, I used a disciplined approach, writing everyday until completed, then had several people edit the text. The more I write, the more ideas pop into my head. As for me personally, I love to hear from my readers and suggest they email me anytime with questions at Blackarrowtrilogy@gmail.com.

If "The Prince of Tabor” were adapted into a movie, who would you like to see cast to play your lead characters?

WP White: Tough one. Chris Pine as Jacoby, Graham McTavish as Gurlloch, Cate Blanchett as Allia'nn, maybe?

When you encounter writer’s block, what do you do to break yourself out of it?

WP White: Take a long walk in the woods. Nature clears my head.

Are there any tips that you would like to share with other aspiring authors?

WP White: Keep persevering, working every day. And read everything you can about book promotion.

What is your favorite book, genre, and/or author?

WP White: I always enjoyed adventure novels. Growing up, my favorites were Raphael Sabatini, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and Percival Christopher Wren. Now, I read mostly spy or suspense novels--especially Vince Flynn, David Baldacci.

What are you working on next?

WP White: After finishing the Brotherhood of the Black Arrow trilogy (Tabor's Savior(2) and The King Returns(3)), I have begun a spin-off using Horatio, the frogman from book 2, as my protagonist. I hope to have it out and published before Christmas!
