Heather’s Bookshelf: Author Interview with Luciana Morfa
Book Title: Conjuring & Crossroads
Released: 06/17/25
Genre: Adult Fantasy/Romance
Interview by Heather L. Barksdale
What inspired you to write “Conjuring & Crossroads”?
Morfa: I was a big Greek mythology kid growing up and wanted a cheesy romance with a goddess.
How did you come up with the names of your main characters?
Morfa: Hecate obviously already came with her own name. Stefan’s was just a name I came upon. I like going through those baby naming websites and seeing their origin and their meaning and seeing if they’ll fit well with the character. Another weird thing I do to try names out is I tried saying them sad or happy or in screaming anguish to see if it would sound right or sound out of place.
Is there anything that you want readers to know about you, your writing process or your book?
Morfa: My writing process is chaos! I write all the scenes on sticky notes and cover my office wall in them so put them in the right order. By the time I actually start writing, it looks like I’m deep in uncovering a conspiracy theory.
If “Conjuring & Crossroads” were adapted into a movie, who would you like to see cast to play your lead characters?
Morfa: Hecate I’m leaning more towards Maya Hawke. She’s kinda hard to picture being played by anyone. Stef would be fantastically played by Xochitl Gomez! She is great and would totally kill it.
When you encounter writer’s block, what do you do to break yourself out of it?
Morfa: I like to step away from writing instead of forcing myself to continue. I’ll normally go watch or read one of my comfort shows or books. It’ll get me back in the right headspace.
Are there any tips that you would like to share with other aspiring authors?
Morfa: If you get that urge to just sit down and write, do it. I’m a night owl and I’ll get random urges around 11pm and would write till 3-4am. The book will eventually get done.
What is your favorite book, genre, and/or author?
Morfa: Favorite genre is sci-fi. My favorite book is Vampire Academy because it’s the reason I started writing. Favorite author is between Victoria Aveyard, Casey McQuiston, and Marissa Meyer.
What are you working on next?
Morfa: I’m working on a sci-fi series next which might not be my next release because there is a lot of world building for it. Because it will come out eventually.
