Author:  Rhys Navarro

Released:  04/29/21

Genre:  Nonfiction: True Crime/Astrology

“This has been a sordid journey through the mindsets of 24 notorious serial killers from all over the world. They came from different cultures, backgrounds, and decades. Was there anything in their astrological natal charts that might have indicated the dark path their lives would take?”

“The Astrology of Serial Killers” is a cross between an introduction to twenty-four serial killers and an astrological reading/correlation to each of their signs. The author provides a brief background into astrology and then explores two notorious serial killers per astrological sign.

The author provides a basic review of each of the killer’s backgrounds including their childhood and any noteworthy developments through adulthood. Their crimes are then briefly reviewed including MO, how they are caught, and result of their prosecution.

Following each of the synopses, the author then reviews aspects of their astrological signs that seem to correlate with the behaviors or actions of the killers as well as similarities between the astrological duos.

Trigger Warning: Review of crimes including murder, rape, torture

Overall, I found this an interesting introduction to astrology and serial killers. The former I knew nothing about before reading this story and the second I happened to be pretty familiar with. As such, I thought that the brief overview to astrology and the descriptions of the signs were engaging. However, I thought that the information on the killers was pretty straight forward and rarely insightful. I also found the listing of victims and manner of death a little gratuitous when the summaries of the crimes had already revealed their MOs. I did find it some of the similarities between cases to be interesting and really sad in thinking about how much death may have been prevented along the way. As for the connection between astrology and profiling, I remain largely unconvinced after completing the book. If you are looking for an introduction to either subject, give it a go, but don’t expect it to delve deep into either subject. This is Volume 1, so perhaps more will be revealed in the future.

(I ended up checking out this book on mixed platforms: written and audiobook.)

I received a copy of this story in exchange of a fair and honest review.
