“I was a girl who embraced glamour even if my body wanted to turn into a blood thirsty wolf.”

“Once Upon a Werewolf” follows the adventures of Abigail Everlaine, a young and privileged enchanter who is viciously attacked by a werewolf. Abbie is left for dead, but Cyril (another older werewolf) saves her life by turning her - into a werewolf hybrid. Abbie soon learns that that Cyril has another reason for saving her life. She must do her best to help him and his grandson, Dr. Braeden Stedwell, a gorgeous and gruff healer who has been cursed with the inability to shift to his inner wolf.

Abbie finds that her world has turned upside and that she no longer knows where she belongs. She finds that she cannot count on her family or the people that she thought were here friends. Instead, she must seek the magical help of those that she has wronged in the past. Abbie must quickly learn to manage her inner wolf and find a way to help Braeden if they are both to survive. Along the way, she must also solve her own attack if she is to help those around her.

This book is filled with fantasy - transforming you to a world of witches, werewolves, and many other mystical characters. My personal favorite is Dimples Honeybell, a talented and feisty being who also happens to be book obsessed. The transformation of Abigail Everlaine is well done and multifaceted, but the detail and personality development of her newfound friends is the real star of this book. The mysteries are intriguing, well paced, and intertwined.

Overall, if you are looking to transform yourself into a fantasy world of mystical beings, intrigue, and a sexy love interest then this is the book for you! I really enjoyed the author’s development of both the protagonist and the ancillary characters and appreciated the dialogue style changes throughout. The mysteries facilitated development of the world while also setting the stage for future Abigail Everlaine stories. The only thing that I would have liked is a little more development of the interaction and relationship between Abbie and Braeden. While this was a main story line, I didn’t find myself really rooting for these two. I understand that there was a ticking clock here, but I found myself more intrigued by the interaction between Abbie and the spell-caster Elizar.

I received a copy of this story in exchange of a fair and honest review.

OVERALL REVIEW:

I really liked it! I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery and character development. I found myself rooting for Abigail Everlaine and I hope that the author writes more mysteries for us all to follow.
